Waaaay back in May 2008 I posted my first WIP picture for this guy. I have finally in the last few weeks made some much awaited progress on him. The orange glass worked out perfectly for his beak and I found a way to incorporate shells that I picked up at the beach by where I photographed him.

This is coming out great Linda! I love the shading - and you're right...the beak is perfect :)
Gorgeous work. Those feathers! The geranium in the pot! I am now suffering from feather envy!
Wow, this is awesome, love the shells! What do you use for framing?
Thank you everyone!
Smashgirl- I build my own frames with 1"x2" wood. First make a back support frame so it is 1" deep (the hardibacker gets screwed to this) then make a second frame 2" deep and 1" showing on face. For larger pieces I add extra cross bracing on the back and for this I also added a wood french cleat for hanging.
Very, very impressive! Your blog has really inspired me. Your work is so intricate. Thanks for the tips on hanging. I like your method for cutting numbers.
